Dark Mode on a Website: When You Need It and How to Do It Right

Interest in dark mode remains high — especially in tech and digital products.

Dark Mode on a Website: When You Need It and How to Do It Right

01 When dark mode makes sense

Products for long screen sessions, tech/creative brands, and sites with a night/neon atmosphere. For "sunny" lifestyle brands, a light theme can be stronger.

02 Design rules

Don't blindly invert colors. Boost text contrast, reduce pure #000 areas, and check your logos and illustrations.

03 Implementation

CSS variables, prefers-color-scheme plus a manual toggle saved to localStorage. Accessibility testing is mandatory.
